Lots and Lots of stuff going on over the next 4 weeks! I want every parent to know about the coming schedule as help is needed to keep the troop moving forward.
Tomorrow is the Troops leadership elections, If your son is eligible and wants to run for a position, tomorrow is the day!
Then over the weekend 9/27-29 will be holding our Junior Leadership Training weekend at Camp Delzine. This is the weekend we take the newly elected boy leadership and put them through our highly recognized training course to help them in their elected positions as well as everyday life.
For this leadership weekend, we need some parent help. What I need is the following:
1. One parent to do the weekend shopping. I can put a menu together with items and quantities. What the volunteer needs to do is, do the shopping, storing and delivering of the food to the church on Friday 9/27 at 5:00 pm. The troop will reimburse this volunteer for all the food.
2. One or two parents that want to come for the weekend, hangout and cook for the boys. The kitchen at camp is a relatively complete commercial kitchen, so this will be a fairly easy weekend.
3. Two additional parents that want to help out with the training. Our troop has created both student books and teacher books so your part would be just to read out of the teacher book. I will make a master schedule and assign chapters in advance if you want to review the material.
Next the following weekend 10/4-6 is the Camp Hahobus camporee, for this weekend we need a couple parents that want to come along and see how our boys perform amongst the approximately 200-300 other scouts that will be in attendance.
Other then driving boys out and staying basically as chaperones, this will be a great weekend to relax in the woods see your son in scout action!
If you can help for either of these two events, please send an email or come see me, Rick or Matt tomorrow during the meeting. Remember the reason our troop is thriving is because of parent participation, without each and everyone of you doing a part we could not do it.
Thanks in advance,
ASM Shawn Madison
