Just a reminder that we will continue with the Cooking merit badge class tonight at 6 PM, just prior to your regularly scheduled meeting.
We will be working on menu planning for our next campout at Ape Cave, April 13-15. We hope to have time to work on requirement # 2 that deals with the food pyramid. See you all tonight. thanks Michael Spuck mobile: 206.818.9515 Greetings scout families:

If you still need Requirement 4, you will have an opportunity to finish that requirement at 6pm Monday, March 26, Requirement 4: Choose an issue that is important to the citizens of your community. Find out which branch of local government is responsible for this issue, and interview one person from that branch of government. Alan Alpin, who works for the City of Tacoma in the Environment Department, has agreed to meet with any interested scouts at 6pm this coming Monday night. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO: Scouts who want to participate will have thoughtful questions and concerns about environmental issues in Tacoma. Your questions should identify a specific environmental problem or issue. You should be prepared to ask about what you as a young community member can do to help this issue. IF YOU ARE ATTENDING, PLEASE EMAIL ME THE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE OR PROBLEM YOU PLAN TO ASK ABOUT PRIOR TO THE MONDAY MEETING. Thank you, Shila Did you miss the Parent Meeting this last week? Or would you like more information regarding something you may have missed?
Some of the items covered were as follows: Upcoming Outings: Next campout is April 13-15th. The troop is going to Ape Caves, near St. Helens. It is important all boys bring the essential items needed for a cold, wet camping trip. If you need items for the campout, you might be able to find good cheap camping clothing and gear at a local resale shop (like Value Village or Goodwill). Also, in the white binder your scout got when joining the troop, you will find two lists. One is the Ready Pack List (link), and one is the Emergency Pack List (link). Both these are great resources when getting your pack together. Medical Forms: All scouts must have medical forms on file to go on any outing with our scout troop. These include form A, B & C. which can be found on The BSA Website here (link). Summer Camp: There have been several emails calling for registration for this. Registration will officially close Monday March 26th. At this time an initial deposit of $50, as well as a second deposit of $75 will need to have been submitted. For more information, please see the website for summer camp here (link). Cancelation Policy: The scoutmasters briefly went over our cancelation policy and the importance of follow-through when signing up for an outing. For more information on the cancelation policy, please see the website here (link.) Also, some great information regarding the upcoming Lasagna dinner was passed out at the Court of Honor. Each scout should have gotten a packet with dinner tickets and raffle tickets as well as a page describing all the wonderful items we have up for grabs. This is our most important fundraiser of the year so lets make it successful and help raise funds to support our troop. If you have any questions about this, please contact Scoutmaster Rick Wallace for more information. It is the Lasagna Dinner Event!
Dear Best-Scout-Parents-Ever! Saturday, April 21st marks our most important Scouting Fund Raiser for the year. ENTERTAINMENT! DINNER! FANTASTIC RAFFLES! To make this a successful and memorable event we need your help!!!! To orchestrate this delicious dinner for the scouting families, friends and relatives we are asking you to participate in either providing items for the dinner or helping in the kitchen.
Jenny Graupensperger and Fletcher Street will be coordinating the dinner, please feel free to contact either of them if you have questions. We really appreciate your help with this important event that is so crucial for funding all of our great activities and a terrific way for the boys to earn ‘money’ that can help pay for summer camp or other excursions.
